Why Vendoor Rents asks for an email or a mobile for every contact

Created by Adam Davis, Modified on Fri, 2 Oct at 5:38 AM by Adam Davis

When you add a person to a customer, Vendoor Rents wants an email address or a mobile number. Either one is enough for that person — your billing contact may only have an email, while the foreman on site only has a number.

What it is really checking is the customer as a whole. Between everybody on a customer’s list there needs to be an email somewhere and a mobile somewhere. They do not have to belong to the same person.

Why it works this way

A customer you cannot reach is a booking you cannot confirm. Quotes, hold expiries, delivery times and invoices all have to land somewhere. A person on the list with neither an address nor a number looks like a contact and is not one — which is worse than an empty list, because an empty list is obvious and a name with nothing behind it is not.

What to do

  • Add whichever you have. One is enough for that person.
  • If the customer is still short of an email or a mobile overall, their card on the Customers page says so.
  • A switchboard number counts. Give it the switchboard role so messages about a job do not go to it by default.
